I hesitated a bit to make the beet – Cucumber cleansing juice just because it had so many ingredients, but it's really not that hard to make. There are 7 ingredients, but ginger and lemon are so easy to add to a juice that it makes no sense for me not to try it at least once. I'm so glad I did.
This is a delicious mix. I could taste every ingredient, but none of them were overwhelming. I make the beet – cucumber cleansing juice again.
Why is this a cleansing juice? For one, beets. Beets are good for the kidney, liver and bladder. Beet juice is also considered as a blood purifier and is good for bowel cleansing.
However, be careful with the leaves. The leaves contain a lot of oxalate and people with a low oxalate diet should avoid consuming too much of the red beet stems and leaves.
Beet – Cucumber cleaning juice
The Beet – Recipe for cucumber cleansing juice comes from – Juicing, fasting and detoxifying for life: unleash the healing power of fresh juices and cleansing diets In the book it is called Beet – Cucumber Cleansing Cocktail and is on page 290. I have changed the name somewhat.
Makes 20+ us with a large cucumber
- 1 cucumber, peeled
- 3 carrots, gas washer well, tips removed, ends trimmed
- 1 beet, well scrubbed, with stem and 1 or 2 leaves
- 2 stalks of celery
- 1 handful of parsley
- 1 or 2 inch chunk of ginger root scrubbed, or peeled as old (I used 1 inch)
- 1/2 lemon, peeled
Researchers claim that compounds in beet detoxify the liver and have the capacity to cure digestive system diseases.
The benefits of beet juice include that it stimulates liver cleansing, improves liver function and protects the liver against excessive alcohol consumption.
